原本門店基數就不高的菸草店的淨增長數達到 28 家，珠寶商也增加了 26 家門店。而英國最大的咖啡連鎖店 Costa 更是門店增長的主力：超過 1500 家門店，比 2010 年的 658 家增長了 1 倍多。它後面還有 Caffe Nero，Greggs，Pret A Manger， Starbucks 甚至 McCafe 等一衆連鎖咖啡品牌追隨。</div>

服裝店的紛紛關門不難理解。大環境下，“經濟不景氣”已經成爲最近零售商們紛紛關店的理由，尤其在“不小心”脫歐之後，英國在今年夏天經歷了零售業和消費者信心跌到谷底的寒冬。與去年相比，消費者在衣服鞋子飾品上的花費減少了 7 億英鎊。</div>

而在服裝店當中，一些門店清倉停業，一些則轉向了線上。</div>

光是 Gap 旗下的 Banana Republic 就因爲連續 6 個月的業績下滑在全球關閉近 75 家門店。前兩週，Banana Republic 宣佈將全面關閉在英的 8 家門店，轉向線上銷售以此節約成本。</div>

那麼爲什麼在這樣一個太多人哭喪着臉的時候，咖啡館菸草店珠寶店這些明明也可能做不下去的零售業態會越來越多？</div>

Barclay 銀行的分析師 Vicki Stem 指出，儘管過去 15 年英國咖啡市場在增長，不過英國人均咖啡消耗量並沒有太多變化。咖啡館的興起是因爲消費習慣的改變。</div>

“過去在家裏或是在辦公室喝速溶咖啡的人開始光顧咖啡館了”，Stem 說。</div>

Whitbread，Costa 母公司的 CEO Andy Harrison 則將咖啡館的爆發歸因於女性消費力的增長和網購的流行——英國商店關門時間早，比起週六耗費一個白天逛實體店，更多人可能開始選擇晚上在家網購，節約下來的時間用來和朋友約在咖啡館見面聊天。</div>

相比男性更愛去的 pub，咖啡館對女性來說是一個更好的社交場所：全天開放，環境對女性和家庭都友好。</div>

甚至，咖啡館已經替代了 pub 的位置，成了英國人最主要的社交場所。這是因爲高企的酒精稅不是削薄了酒吧利潤，就是讓消費者嫌酒價變貴。這使得漸漸支撐不下去的酒吧都想通過賣咖啡賺更多錢了。酒吧連鎖店 JD Wetherspoons 計劃將咖啡和早餐的銷量增長到原來 3 倍（是的，很多英國酒吧還會兼售英式早餐。）</div>

這些原因都讓咖啡館成了不景氣時期的得利者。全英國現在有將近 2 萬家咖啡館。即使是英國經濟最不好的地區，咖啡市場都有 5% 的增長。</div>

至於菸草店的增長，就更奇怪了。英國吸菸人羣數量的的確確是在減少。一份來自戒菸組織 ASH 的報告還告訴我們：在便利店，香菸的利潤只有大約 6.6%，普通的商品利潤則可以達到 24.1%。除了維持原有香菸量以吸引固定客戶，便利店們沒有多賣幾支香菸的必要。</div>

唯一的可能是，吸電子煙的人變多了。</div>

根據英國獨立報的數據，英國有 260 萬成年人在抽電子煙，而且數字還在增長。</div>

由於戒菸組織的訴求和利益，ASH 的報告會選擇性地告訴你事實——他們並未將電子煙的數據統計在內。一般來說，電子煙的利潤高達 30%-35%。</div>

根據《連線》雜誌，儘管美國的醫學家們認爲電子煙對健康危害很大，但英國一家大型醫療機構卻認爲電子煙的危害遠小於其好處，還建議吸菸者們早點轉投電子煙——畢竟這是他們戒菸的最大希望了。</div>
